Happy Birthday, Roxie!

Well, I'm happy to report that today is my birthday!  We decided it was only fair to do the same thing with me that we did with Josie and that is to back into my birthday according to the age the vet told my mom was she adopted me.  They told her I was about 8 weeks old, and she brought me home in early January, so we are choosing today to celebrate my birthday!  I'm so excited I can't stand it!

Of course, Mom has choir tonight, so we spent last night playing and celebrating, and she's gonna love on me and play with me more when she gets home tonight.  I wanted to share all of the birthday fun we had last night though and fill everyone in on what we did!  It was so much fun - to me, anyway!

Mama got home last night and told us we weren't going to work on luncheon stuff at all, that we were ONLY going to play and celebrate me!  Well, you know I was all about that!  Mama got out all of the fun stuff and we made me a fun birthday card:

Mama then showed me a new shirt she got me for my birthday!  I think I'm going to have to share it with Josie on her birthdays, too, but that's okay.  (I wouldn't say this to Mama because I don't want to hurt her feelings, but I wish she had gotten a bigger size.  This one kinda makes it look like I have big hips and a wide behind!  See what you think...??!!)

"Josie's such a good sister.  Here she's giving
me a little birthday kiss!"
"See, don't you think my hips and behind look
big here?  Just remember, my fur is getting
thick because it's about to get cold
outside, so that's part of the problem!"

"I can't be sure, but I think Josie is thinking 'Uh oh!  Am
I going to have to wear that contraption on my birthday,
too??'"
Then, she pulled out a pack of my very favorite toys!  All of mine that I play with now are all bent out of shape and wadded up in little balls like the blue one in one of the pictures above (they're only covered pipe cleaners, so that happens easily - kinda like the Velveteen Rabbit when it got loved on so much!).  Anyway, she gave me a brand new pack of those, which I LOVED and could not wait to get my paws on!!!

THEN, we did something we've never done before - something really SUPER fun!  For Josie's birthday, Mom bought a book titled something like '50 Games to Play with Your Cat.'  Well, one of those things was blowing bubbles, so Mom, being as cool as she is, bought some bubble stuff and we sat in the floor for a while and played with those!  The stuff in the bottle didn't work so great or blow so many bubbles at first, but my mom is so smart that she put some Dawn Dishwashing Liquid in there and shook it up!  It worked a LOT better then!  It was so much fun blowing and popping bubbles, but I had a hard time trying to decide where they went when they hit the ground!  Some landed on me, too, and didn't bust, so that was kinda weird!  Here's me playing with the bubbles.  It was SOOO much fun!

"I am trying to figure out how Mom makes those
bubbles happen here!  I still never could get
it to work!"
"This one looks like it's balancing on my nose!"

"Josie, in the background, didn't think it was so
much fun.  She was horrified actually, and
trotted her little self far, far away.  She did
crouch and watch, though!  That was fine
with me though - more for me!!"

"Uh - where'd they go??"

"I just can't figure this stuff out,but it sure is fun!"
Mama thinks we didn't see it, but we know a new Kitnip box came today, too!  We saw her open the front door and bring it in, but she just sat it down kinda nonchalant, thinking we wouldn't notice.  I guess she didn't want to steal the excitement from my birthday celebration, so maybe we'll open that when she gets  home tonight!  I hope so!

We'll let you know what's in the new Kitnip box when we open it.  Since it's November, it probably has something to do with Thanksgiving - maybe a turkey filled with catnip!  We'll keep you posted!

Thanks for taking time to read about my birthday!  This is turning out to be such a fun week!

Too Cute to Spook!

Gosh!  We can’t believe Halloween is already here!  We kinda threw ideas around with Mom about what we could be, then she pulled up pictures online to show us a few things that she thought were cute.  We didn’t want anything too cumbersome because we need to be able to dart way at a moment’s notice if the need arises, although there were lots of cute things out there!  There were some 3-D glasses in that latest KitNip box we got, but our answer to that was, ‘NO WAY!!’  Nothin’s gonna cover up our cute faces if we can help it!

We thought long and hard about what we should be.  After Mom showed us these jester collars and we read the definition of a 'jester' on Wikipedia, we knew that was what we needed to be.  See if you agree - here's Wikipedia's definition:

"A jester, court jester or fool was historically an entertainer during the medieval and Renaissance eras and was a member of the household of a nobleman employed  to entertain him and his guests."  - We didn't necessarily love the 'fool' part, but are DEFINITELY entertainers, so that was good!  Here we are in our collars.  They have bells and everything!  That really made us wonder what was up at first, because no matter how fast we ran, we could NOT get away from them!  We finally figured it out though and posed for pictures because we knew our friends would want to see how cute we look!

And not only have we had to decide what we were going to dress up like, but we had to decide if we are actually going trick-or-treating or if we're going to stay home and give out treats.  That was a hard one, but we kinda decided that most people are not going to be giving out CAT treats, so we decided we'll just stay home and give out the things we decided would be fun!  Mom told us she was proud of us for making that decision, and she said she was going to practice with us today.  She's gonna ring the doorbell a bunch of times today, randomly, of course, so that we're not scared when all that starts happening later.  We don't like sounds that are loud and unexpected, so if we practice today, that should help a lot by the time tonight gets here!

So many things to think about!  Then we had to decide what we are going to give out to the little treaters.  After much speculation and going back and forth with Mom, we decided to give out individual packs of Animal Crackers and Goldfish.  Also, parents have to be so careful this day and time and we don’t know if this will be okay or not, but if the parents will let us, we’re going to give the children a Swedish Fish to eat right then just for coming by our house.  That will be something they can eat right then to sugar them up even before they get home with their big pile of candy!  Parents should LOVE that!  Oh yeah, Mom had some suckers left over from some children's choir thing a few months ago, so we're gonna throw those in the batch to give out, too!

"Doesn't this look like a big container of fun stuff for us to give out?"

"I didn't know which pose I look better in, so I thought I'd post both!"
"Mom, these animal crackers were a wise choice,
even if we do say so ourselves!"
"Goldfish, you say?  Those look interesting!"
"Of course we need to taste everything before we give it away?"
"There are going to be some lucky little trick-or-treaters
around here tonight!"
"One last check to be sure nothing is overlooked!"
"Okay!  Everything passes approval!  I think we made some
good choices!  If there are leftovers, can we have them?"
And THEN, after we got all of this done and ready, Mom surprised us with a couple of Halloween toys she bought the other day!  We seriously just have the best mom ever.  For two cats who were just found on the side of the road, we sure do have a spoiled, good life now!

We've got lots to report coming up - Roxie's birthday is coming AND we have a new Kitnip Box coming next week, so there are some exciting days ahead.  We're also REAL excited about time change tonight.  The 'fall back' one is our favorite because Mom gets to stay at home with us for an extra hour!  YAY!!!

Well, we're gonna go play with these toys and practice giving out treats (we have to practice that simple stuff that you humans take for granted since we don't have thumbs to help grab stuff with!), and OOPS (!!), Mom just rang the doorbell (one time of many to come, we're sure!), so we need to scoot and start working on that, but we hope everyone has a great Halloween!  Be safe!

Josie's 'Gotcha Day' 2015!

This post is gonna be allllll about me -Josie!  Today is my 'Gotcha Day' and I couldn't be happier to celebrate it with my very favorite two living, breathing creatures - my mom and Roxie!  I know that term is usually used for people who adopt children, so I hope no one's offended by me using it,too, but this is a big day for me, and I'm excited!

My mom has told me a bunch of times about the night my cousin, Grace, called and just wanted to watch 'a kitten that me and my friend found on the way home today.'  Mom said her reply was, "Grace, I'm not in the market...!!"  Grace said, "I know - just keep her until this weekend and we're going to take her to Petsmart!!"  Knowing my mom like I do now, I bet Grace had a feeling Mom would get attached and wouldn't want to see me go anywhere else, and she was RIGHT!!!  The whole story is one one of the first posts here if you'd like to go re-read it, but if not, that's fine.  We just appreciate everyone keeping tabs on us like they do!

Because it's my 'Gotcha Day', I asked Mom if it would be okay for us to go through all the pictures she's taken and pick out some of the highlights - but little did we realize how many pictures she has of me!  Wow!  Even I didn't realize she'd taken so many pictures!  We thought it would be fun to post them to kinda re-live my life.  Hope you enjoy them as much as we did going through them!

This was the night Grace and my Aunt Patty brought me to my Mom.
I loved her right off the bat, plus I was TIRED!

Mom took this one to show how little I was!  I only weighed about 3 pounds!

Messin' with Mom before she left for work!  I should have been
being nice, because she hadn't decided to keep me yet!

YAY!!  Mom annouced to the world that I was a 'keeper'.
I was a lot happier than I look in this picture!

So many snowmen, so little time!!

Trying to figure out who wanted to sit with who at the
Ladies Luncheon last year!

I decided I needed a little snooze while Mom was
working on the seating chart.

Trying to distract Mom by being cute!

"How'd you spell that name? "

"Here's your pen, Mom!  It sure writes good!"

"Ummm...I was just a little hungry!"

"Work?  Do you have to leave??  Can I go with you??"

"Ready, set....POUNCE!!!"

"I hear that wind blowin', Mom, I just wanna see
it for myself!"

"Uh oh - how do I get out of this one??"

"There!  That should do it!  A cat with plumbing ability
is always a good thing!"

Part kangaroo - "What's goin' on up there?"

"I'm gonna get this window open if it's the last thing I do!!"

"Hey, Mom - that cat is outside!  What's up with that??"

Always the helper - cleaning out cabinets!

Trying to distract Mom again....

....and again....

"Okay - that looks like something we can work with!"

Just a little thirsty!

"I'll unload the dishwasher while you change clothes -
that way we can play sooner!"

"Yep - it's printing fine!"

"Mom....COME ON!!  ZZZzzzzzzzz"

"If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!"

Getting a better grip....

"Mom, that Eric is kinda cute, isn't he?"

"Shame on JJ!!"

Thirsty again - just can't get enough water!

Solitary moments....
"I REALLY wanna go with you, Mom!"

"Coffee??  What's that?"

"Oopsie!"

Leaving a treat for mom....

....all my faves - just for Mom!"

Friday night selfies....

"Maybe she'll get the hint that I like to sleep in this basket!"

Pondering life...

"Who said I wanted a sibling??"

"Hope Mom doesn't catch me doing this..."

"....or THIS!!"

"Mom - your alarm is about to go off...can you get up and feed me??"

"Mom wanted to add this one - it's one of her faves!"

"Hang on Roxie - I'll have us in this closet in just a minute!"

"Hmmm...she moved that chest...surely there has to be another way!"

"I got the tea bags for you, Mom!"

"Hellooo...Mom...We're hungry here!"

"Checkin' out Mom's trumpet..."

"That thing is kinda loud and scary!"

"I LOVE presents!!"

"Listen up..."
"Hey - can you help me out here?"

"HELLLPPPP!!!"

"Celebraing me!!!"

"Maybe if I'm real still, I can sneak and go with Mom!!"

Lookin' for lost toys!

This was taken the day my life changed
forever - the day we got Roxie!

Not quite sure...

On the way to get fixed - I didn't like it, but Mom
knew it was for the best!

Just looking for a snack....

Hiding from Roxie!

"'I'm not sure I've got the hang of this selfie stick yet!"

"That Phoebe!  I still can't believe she sings that Smelly Cat song!"

"SURPRISE!!"

"Wonder how I can get in here with the windows rolled up??
Surely there's a way!!"
Wow! Lookin' back through all of these pictures, I've had a busy first year with Mom, but I've loved it, and can't WAIT to see what the next year holds! Happy GOTCHA DAY to me!!
